Microsoft’s “I’m a PC” Ads Worth the Wait!!

The Microsoft ads with Seinfeld and Gates sure didn’t make anyone run out and by a PC. Which is probably why Microsoft cut the ads short. Now, Microsoft will tell you it was because they were ready to move on with the  “progression” of the ads, but let’s call a stinking ad a stinking ad and be done with it.

On the other hand…..

I friggin love the “I’m a PC” ads Microsoft launched. It truly is a fantastic ad and they should have been doing it for years! You get your high-powered athletes and Hollywood types, but the best part of the ad is…wait for it, regular people using Windows!

Don’t get me wrong, I have laughed my rear end off to Apple’s “I’m a Mac/I’m a PC” campaign, but this shows a side of Microsoft you wouldn’t normally see. Taking aim fully at themselves yet bitch-slapping Apple at the same time is brilliant! I can see the tag line now; while you were making commercials, we were putting computers on the desks-laps-car seats-coffee tables-and where ever else they could fit of more than a billion people!

I am truly invigorated to see Microsoft go on the offensive and attack Apple this way. I am excited to see what else they have in store. When is the last time you said that about Microsoft marketing? Anyway, sorry the Seinfeld thing didn’t work out, but now that the marketing types have taken over since Bill has left the building, please make sure you continue to bang this drum right up to the Windows 7 launch.
