Less than 24 hours after kicking John McCain’s ass to become the first black (and this will be the last time I use the reference) president, President-elect Obama wasted no time in seeking the services of potty-mouthed Democratic Caucus Chair Rahm Emanual as his Chief of Staff.
Obama has assembled his transition team quickly and appears to be ready to start naming cabinet hopefuls as early as next week. While upset that the President-elect hasn’t called on me to become Press Secretary (something about too willing to fly off the handle at a moments notice or something) I will be more than happy to sing his praises from my own pulpit here at Blabrmouth.com!
But, I already have one bone to pick. Aids have hinted at keeping Defense Secretary Robert Gates on to allow for a smooth transition and plan for a withdrawal from Iraq. I have two words for that idea….Colin Powell. He is my new Defense Secretary by this weekend if I had my way.
Bad idea?
Look at it this way, Gates is a Bush guy and one wrong move by Obama and this jerk-off will be screaming from the rooftops so loud that Bob Woodward will have to tell him to shut up. Besides, Obama needs a new guy in place from day one since this was one of the cornerstones to the campaign. Powell already commands respect across the table and doesn’t need much time to be brought up to speed. He already has a working relationship with most of the Joint Chiefs and is known throughout the world as a tough negotiator.
Nevertheless, much smarter people than I get to make those decisions, but it should also go without saying that I will have plenty to talk about as the Obama camp continues to prepare for what will be one of the most joyous times of 2009; the day George Bush moves out of the White House!

Powell is permanently tainted by his compliance with the lies of the Bush administration. How can anyone trust anything he has to say after the fiction he presented to the U.N? I would be very disappointed if he ever makes another appearance in U.S. politics.
@aperson-Thanks for stopping by! I can’t disagree with what you said. However, I offer you this for consideration. Once a soldier, always a soldier. You do what your told and you don’t ask questions. Passing the smell test?
“keeping Defense Secretary Robert Gates on to allow for a smooth transition and plan for a withdrawal from Iraq.”
I believe that is too early to talk about pull out. If the troop is back, US will have another 300,000 unemployment claim, plus the military supply companies workers.
Fix the financial crisis first. No money, you cannot do anything!
@Andy T-The political climate here in the States requires a sooner than later approach to getting out of that mess. I agree, too early and you risk loosing it to any terrorist with the money and manpower to take control, but the U.S. has had enough of the dicking around by the Iraqi government.
